Anne Cole Bathing Suits

Sylvie Cachay, a 33 New York fashion designer and head designer of the Anne Cole bathing suits, was found dead, face up, in an overflowing bathtub in a Manhattan hotel with bruises on her neck and a seemingly bite mark on her body.

Sylvie's boyfriend and son of songwriter Joseph Brooks: Nicholas Brooks has been charged with an attempted of murder and strangulation.

She possessed an amazing fashion taste from the time she was a little kid and she always did a beautiful job putting on her makeup. Lately she was starting to make waves in the New York fashion world with her luxury swimwear called Syla, featuring bathing suits retailing at Bloomingdale's for $200 or more.

Sylvie was inspired by the leisure-class portraiture of the British photographer Cecil Beaton, loved Christian Louboutin shoes, admired Austrian artists Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele and designed swimwear for the glamorous woman on holiday.

We hereby give our condolences to her family, friends and all lovers of Anne Cole bathing suits.

Miley Cyrus in a bikini

Miley Cyrus in a red hot polka dot bikini body whilst she was vacationing with her family on the beach in Mexico.

It's almost one year now that she showed bikini pictures with a tattoo under her left breast saying: Just breathe:

Miley Cyrus Bikini Tatoo

Miley Cyrus Bikini Tattoo - Just Breathe

And who doesn't remember the racy pictures of Miley Cyrus in a bikini that she shot on her own handphone?

Pictures of Miley Cyrus in a bikini

Self shot pictures of Miley Cyrus in a bikini: a teen not using her brains, can't blame her for that

However the above bikini pictures where taken for her and her friends eyes only. Now that we all know from her music video that she "Can't Be Tamed" and her choice not to attend college, we wonder how Disney really wants a role model for modern days teens to be? Or are they just out and about selling and making money at the cost of a teens' good education? A new Britney Spears' disaster in the making? Teens do need guidance in stead of making the money now with an empty yet sexy body and brain.

Retire in Thailand

A 62 year old guy leaves his nagging wife to retire in Thailand. He can stretch his dollar to vastly build himself a new life and even meets his new , devoted and beautiful 27 your old Thai girlfriend.

This is just one example that Martin Hurley describes in his book "Your Thai Girl" that he recently is giving away for free, kind of: he charges a $4.95 'trial out fee' and challenges you to come and retire in Thailand with him.

Just that Martin is not even half the age of 62, but thanks to his knowledge of Thailand, he lives there from a salary that involves doing little to nothing. Of course his wisdom comes from his Thai wife, as without an insider in Thailand, retirement is not as easy as it sounds.

When you did some research about retiring in Asia, I am sure you heard about the Malaysia My Second Home visa: a multi entrance visa that attracts retirees to Malaysia. However, once they arrive, they notice that the visa is extremely overprized and doesn't give them any real benefits.

So why not go and retire in neighbor country Thailand? You won't be annoyed by mosques calling for prayers, especially around 5.30 in the morning when every retiree deserves a good night rest.

In case you need a girlfriend to retire in Thailand: pick your pick for free at Asian Online Dating and make sure you invest $4.95 in Martin Hurley's guide to Thailand: Your Thai Girl.

Cameron Highlands Malaysia

Enjoy the cool remnants of oldest rainforest in Cameron Highlands Malaysia. Just hurry, because Malaysia is not doing anything to make sure its rainforest last another 100 years.

We did a jungle walk today nearby the Cameron Highlands Resort in Malaysia's oldest rainforest. First and foremost: coming out of the forest, you can feel the heat rising with more than 5 degrees and you start sweating fast. Inside the rainforest, it's all cool, even carrying a backpack didn't make me sweat.

The poisonous viper in the above picture was rescued by our guide who resides in the Cameron Highlands Resort and will be released again in the jungle of Cameron Highlands Malaysia once it grows stronger.

Cameron Highlands

Just updating you all from Cameron Highlands, enjoying a cup of the best Malaysian Boh Tea on a cool terrace in front of the hotel guest's computer of the Cameron Highlands Resort.

Cameron Highlands is a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur, as long as you make sure not to book during Malaysian school holidays. Now it's September, the late monsoon is coming, it's Tuesday and I almost have the entire Cameron Highlands Resort for myself :-)

I booked an all inclusive package which means that you can eat in the hotel. This is a must because eating outdoors in Cameron Highlands meaning you will have to share your food with the flies. Cameron Highlands is Malaysia's and Singapore's vegetable garden, lots of chicken and cow dung is used, attracting more flies than tourists.

The meals in the Cameron Highlands Resort are quite pricey, but it beats having to eat with one hand whilst the other is trying to wave the flies away.

Thai Thong

A cute Thai thong with the sexy sounding wording muay Thai... No, this is not the sound heard when kissing Thai women. Muay Thai is an old martial art also known as Thai boxing or kick boxing. And no, you don't practice it wearing a thong.

What puzzles me is why it says it is made in the USA, as for sure you can find better looking thongs when shopping in Thailand for a much cheaper price.

If you are looking for Thai girls wearing thongs, you should head over to the free Thai Online Dating page.

Big Brother Nadia

Ultimate Big Brother Nadia is wearing a black bandeau lying in a bath.

Any sister or transsexual brother for that matter having so much 'up' front is strongly not advised to wear a bandeau bathing suit, unless you make sure you keep horizontal just like Nadia does in the picture.

As for what 'ultimate' really stands for in the recent Big Brother series, could be confirmed by Makosi and Chantelle:

Chantelle Houghton Bikini

Chantelle Houghton wears her halterneck bikini as a bandeau: utterly inconvenient to move around in with her kind of body shape!

Chantelle famously sang “I Want It All” on Celebrity Big Brother 4 – and today, Nadia and Victor will make up the rest of her fictional band Kandy Floss, as the three of them must practice and perform the song together tonight.

Driving in Thailand

Driving in Thailand for the first time can kill you, unless you prepare yourself with our travel tips. The accident statistics in Thailand are frightening: about 20,000 death Thai drivers due to road accidents. Only if you are a confident driver and you are aware of the driving conditions in Thailand, then driving is a great way to travel around the country and will give you the freedom to really explore.

Car Rental Thailand

There are plenty of reputable car rental firms in Thailand like Avis, Budget, Hertz, Via and Braun. A typical rental car in Thailand would be a Toyota Soluna at around 1500 to 2000 baht (about 50 to 65 $) for a day.

Cheap car hire can be found by the beach side renters. Just don't leave your passport as collateral for your rented vehicle, give them a photocopy instead. And be assured you won't be well insured...

Which fuel to use when driving in Thailand

The main vehicle fuels in Thailand are:

  • 91 (octane output of the fuel), advisable for motorbikes

  • 95 (a little more octane and is a little more expensive than 91), advisable for car rentals

  • gasohol (90% gasoline and 10% ethanol: introduced in Thailand to reduce rising fuel import costs) and

  • diesel.

How to survive driving in Thailand

  • be smart and aggressive, otherwise you will never advance an inch

  • obey driving rules when you can but expect Thai drivers not to obey rules

  • drive on the left hand side of the road and be prepared that Thai drivers will ignore this rule if it helps them get to their turning quicker

  • respect the speed limit: 60 km/h in town from 90 to 120 km/h on country roads and expressways

  • expect Thai drivers to be unpredictable

  • always look everywhere and remember: westerners due take driving conventions for granted, some Thai drivers just don't!

  • be prepared for motorbikes flying towards you like... well, like flies to a pot of honey. Unlike flies, don't hit the motorbikes as they will also try their best not to hit you. Help them a bit because some of them just don't try hard enough...

  • do not drive drunk

  • if a car flashes at you, it means he won't change lane but expects you to do so

  • when the traffic light turns green, don't zoom away, as you might hit motorbikes that are zooming through the opposite red light

  • when overtaking a bus or truck :

    • their right hand indicator warns not to overtake as there is oncoming traffic

    • their left hand indicator signals that it is safe to overtake OR that the car is turning!

One good thing about driving in Thailand is the overall Thai cultural habit of not getting angry in public. So when the Thai do get angry, you can rest assure that your driving is not at all up to Thailand's standards!

Kate Perry Bikini

Kate Perry strips to a bikini for an interview in the pool at the at Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore. No big deal as Kate Perry was even performing in a bikini

Kate Perry in a bikini

A far cry from her performance in Malaysia, were female attire has gone from western in the 60's to extremely modest now:

Kate Perry Spandex

Kate Perry wearing spandex performing in Malaysia: a country that tries to step into the so called "developed status" in 2020, although female fashion shows an opposite trend.

Just keep modest and at most only think about strutting your stuff on a Malaysian beach. Better take a flight to neighboring Singapore or Thailand if you want to feel at ease with what you wear.

Before you go on vacation to the Maldives or spend you honeymoon there like I did, use our Maldives maps to find the better spots and locations.

air maldives

Maldives seen from the air

The first impression of the Maldives from the air would look like in the picture above... It's all about small islands...

Maldives World Map

world maldives map

World Maldives Map

The Republic of Maldives is situated in the Indian Ocean.

The Maldives Islands consists of 1,190 islands grouped in 26 atolls stretching more than 800 km from north to south: crossing the equator at their south end.

Maldives Map

maldives map

Maldives Map of the Atols and airports

We repeat: the islands are small and so are the airports :-) The Maldives are located about an hour's flight southwest of Sri Lanka in the Indian Ocean.

You can see 26 atoll formations, comprising over more than thousand islands and scattered like gem stones in a north to south direction. Only 199 of all the islands are inhabited (population about 240.00) and 75 Maldives' islands have been set aside exclusively for tourist resorts.

A submerged mountain chain forms the base on which the coral reefs are built. The islands began forming 3,000 to 5,500 years ago by carbonate sediment:

  • derived from these coral reefs and

  • deposited by waves and currents.

Their low elevation makes the Maldives particularly vulnerable to storms, the late tsunami and changes in sea level due to global warming. In fact: this country is slowly disappearing in the sea, so Maldives maps will soon be a part of history...

Mens Vintage Swimwear

Jantzen's founders showcase their mens vintage swimwear in this 1915 picture taken on the dock at the Portland Rowing Club. The swimwear is made out of wool, knitted in a refined rib-knit to make the swimwear a bit more stretchy.

Jantzen swimwear today celebrates 100 years. Jantzen first advertised their bathing suits in their 1915 catalogs. Although pure wool bathing suits sounds itchy and all but practical, it was already a big improvement from the "simply bath in your clothes" of earlier eras.

Having said that, in places without cameras nor Victorian modesty, people simply swam in the nude. Especially during Roman and Greek times, men and women bathed together, not bothered by bathing suits. Nothing to be surprised about when you go for a sauna and a swim in Finland.

It's only in Europe that people forgot how to bathe, forgot about bathing suits and tried to cover body odor with what is now known as refined French make-up and perfumes.

Some cultures still don't allow women to wear skimpy swimwear, some cultures simply still prohibit men and women to swim during certain periods of life. How come we forgot we were born without clothes in the first place?

I do agree that now people are going overboard with plastic surgery to create "the perfect beach body", when a simply daily routine of good exercise and healthy food would give everybody a decent bikini body in no time.

And did you notice that swimwear at the beginning of the previous century was unisex:

Mastectomy Swimwar

Mastectomy swimwear is as fashionable, feminine and functional as a regular bathing suit but it has fitted pockets to carry external breasts. Normally they come with higher necklines and underarms no hide surgery scars.

4 out of 5 women that had a mastectomy don't chose for surgical breast implants. In stead they opt for "external breasts": breast forms that match their body shape by side and according to their lifestyle.

When you want to go for a swim, there is an array of swim forms to choose from. Equally perfect are the so called balance shapers that are thinner than breast forms and only add the right amount of shape where you need it: especially welcomed by women who have undergone breast conserving surgery or simply have a natural appearance imbalance.

Post mastectomy products are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance companies so nothing stops you to look at your best when going for a swim in mastectomy swimwear.

Strappy Monokini

Our favorite strappy monokini: both the sexiest and the cheapest: Kenneth Cole's strappy monokini sells for less than $100. Only the Kenneth Cole plunge monokini is cheaper and sells for $73.

Black Strappy

This strappy black monokini from Oye has crossed straps that show 5 cut-out circles crisscrossing and tying at the top. Sells at a discount at about $180 and comes in gold and black, made from nylon and spandex.

Strappy Swimsuit

This strappy swimsuit designed by Mara Hoffman comes from Victoria's Secret. Also made from nylon and spandex, this monokini ties at the back, is fully lined and gives minimal back coverage.

Sells for about $140 and in my opinion is much more daring, sexy and fashionable than the more expensive strappy monokini from Oye. Most likely Oye charges per cloth used :-), but Oye's monokini bathing suit is clearly more tailored to an active beach life.

Thai Bikini Girls

6 gorgeous Thai bikini girls spotted at the pool of the Cape Panwa Hotel shooting a sexy swimsuit fashion show video for the Miss Thailand World contest.

Of course all contestants looked stunning in their bathing suits but only one Thai girl was confident enough to wear a red strapless bandeau bathing suit (second from left). The bathing suit fashion show was held at July 23rd 2010.

These 30 most beautiful Thai girls also tried to boost Phuket's tourism visiting monuments and local craftsmen.

Using the slogan “Be Beautiful for Thai Children Education” added some activities to benefit the Ban Lamsai School before departing back to Bangkok, Thailand.

Kim Kardashian in a bikini

Sexy as ever: Kim Kardashian in a bikini that you can easily buy at Abyss.

Kim is wearing a bandeau bathing suit and since she hasn't the ideal body for a sexy bandeau bikini: the extra neck strap keeps all in place.

When it comes to swimsuits, the bandeau refers to a top that's ideal for sun tanners as it is traditionally worn without any shoulder straps. Since there is only an elastic to make sure the bandeau keeps on covering your boobs, this type of bathing suit top is normally worn by women or juniors with at most B-cups.

However if you are as curvy as Kim Kardashian, you can still strut your stuff in a bandeau bikini or well cut out monokini when it comes with a strap that ties around the neck and down in between the bust. A typical one piece bathing suit is not an ideal choice for a bandeau top, as the garment will constantly pull the top down.

When choosing this type of swimwear, make sure it is a perfect fit without any straps, meaning it doesn't cut in your flesh nor does it slide down immediately. Once that is accomplished and you have a fuller bust, do add the straps and you will look at least as sexy as Kim Kardashian in a bikini.

Monokini Swimwear

My favorite sexy and stylish pick this summer: monokini swimwear to getting lots of admiring looks at the pool and the beach.

Since I have always been in favor for one piece bathing suits, the monokini is actually a sent from haven: it is still a one piece but when you look at me from the back, it is as if I am wearing a normal bikini. Kind of having 2 bathing suit looks for the price of one, how affordably fashionable is that!

As a born Malaysian living in a predominated Muslim country, one always had to be conscious what to wear on the beach. A one piece was a good solution, both to protect yourself from the sun as being acceptable with the norm set by Muslim swimwear:

Muslim Swimwear

Muslim swimwear : still better than jumping in the pool with the clothes you wear (mind you, I am not kidding, some people just jump in the pool here wearing their daily outfit...)

The monokini has become extremely popular in recent years and the reason why is because it has evolved to a playful bathing suit that comes in many styles and coverage. For a beach in Malaysia, better go for as much coverage as possible:

Halter Monokini

This halter monokini from L Space called Fringe could be your best bet. Made out of 80% Nylon / 20% Spandex, you can easily adjust where your plunging v-neck will start by adjusting the top string tied around the neck.

If you want to wear - or for the guys see - skimpier monokinis, then we suggest you frolic the beaches - or dive into the nightlife - of Phuket, Thailand.

Cut Out Monokini

Don't you adore this amazingly cut out monokini from last summers collection of designer Hervé Léger? Monokini swimwear comes in so many styles and cut outs that surely there is one the fits your look.

Deevana Patong Resort

The appeal of the Deevana Patong Resort is its secluded tropical garden with spa offering you tranquility and rejuvenation in the middle of the otherwise overly busy Patong Beach in Phuket, Thailand.

Deevana Patong Resort and Spa

Deevana Patong Resort and Spa

Apart from walking around in the luscious, tropical gardens, I enjoyed the Deevana Patong Resort for its spa. You could guess it: the spa is also located in the gardens with adjacent rejuvenating pools. Ideal for a romantic spa experience with your partner as the Deevana Spa is deigned to offer you seclusion and privacy whilst relaxing outdoors in nature.

An unforgettable natural rejuvenating experience with typical ancient Thai beauty therapies as well as traditional Swedish therapeutic massages, aromatherapy, foot reflexology and even a slimming massage (not that I am in need of one, wink wink...).

Deevana Patong Resort reviews

Deevana Patong Resort reviews

The Deevana Patong Resort reviews range from between very good and excellent, especially in the low season when you manage to upgrade yourself to a superior room with a Jacuzzi :-) Make sure to book in the spa wing and avoid the old and run down garden wing.

However do enjoy the peace and tranquility of the resorts garden if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Patong beach. As anywhere in Thailand, staff is friendly and location is king in Phuket: only a small walk away is the overly well priced May's Restaurant serving delicious local food at equally local prices. The resort's restaurant however serves good Thai food as well.

All in all the Deevana Patong Resort is recommended for a clean, quiet and peaceful stay in otherwise busy and touristy Phuket

Ko Phi Phi Leh

Exploring the hidden secrets in the caves of Ko Phi Phi Leh Island in Thailand is a must do when visiting Phuket or Phi Phi Island.

The only way to enter the hidden treasures inside the famous lime stone rocks of the Phi Phi islands is signing up for a canoe tour. We signed up with Sea Canoe and the journey will only be organized during the low tide, as that's the only time the water is low enough for you to enter the inside of the lime rocks.

Although the weather was cloudy, it is rainy season after all - so actually happy we weren't flushed out by a rain storm-, it is well worth the trip. Each canoe has his own "driver", meaning you just sit back, relax, enjoy the silence of the sea and explore with the eco friendly guides what's inside.

Koh Phi Phi Leh

Who would have imagined to find monkeys inside these Koh Phi Phi Leh hidden lagoons? Mangroves? Crabs and mudskippers? Birds of Prey? Amazing!

Ko Phi Phi Leh Map

Ko Phi Phi Leh and Ko Phi Phi Don are less than 50 km away from both Phuket Island and Krabi town on the west coast of southern Thailand.

Kim Kardashian Monokini

Why does Kim Kardashian look utterly sexy when wearing a monokini?

Because monokinis are designed to draw the attention on the waist, taking away the attention especially from a bigger bottom and any sized top. Being very sexy by showing lots of skin, but in this case not from the bust nor from the butt. Of course they come in all kinds of styles and cuts as well, including a plunging neck towards the belly button or an ever so revealing thong bottom.

Monokini bathing suits look like a normal bikini from the back, but at the front top and bottom are connected. This makes this kind of bathing suit a bit more secure than a bikini when it comes to playing around in the water.

Although strictly spoken monokinis are one piece swimsuits, since they show a lot of flesh, do make sure to put on lots of sun lotion.

Nevertheless more safe in the water, monokinis are mostly to show off in, which explains why celebrities like Paris Hilton, Eva Longoria and Jessica Alba love wearing them. As for curvy women like Kim Kardashian, monokinis are ideal :-)
