Riverview restaurant

Enjoy a cool breeze and the smell of the sea one hour drive away from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia in the Riverview Restaurant.

Riverview Restaurant

The view is so stunning as if you were having dinner on a boat. Almost true, as the restaurant is build above the river and you can enjoy the riverboats sailing by.

Add this to your off the beaten track Kuala Lumpur tourism attractions when you want to eat fresh seafood (not frozen) from the early morning catch.

Although for Malaysian standards this restaurant is no more than a "coffee shop", do note that it is fully packed on weekends. And since Friday's the roads in Malaysia are also busy due to the Muslims taking half a day off, your best bet is to drive there from Monday till Thursday.

It seems to be a Halal restaurant as I don't recall any pork, not that I was looking for that in the first place: there is a lot of fish and see food on the menu:

Riverview Restaurant menu

Above some delicious crab in what they call a milk sauce. I guess that's just a way of marketing this overly delicate butter crab: come here every day in a week and for sure you need to buy a bigger size bikini or bathing suit!

Not that the river water is inviting enough to have a plunge, for that you better visit one of the many Malaysian Resorts and Spas we talk about on our woman's swimwear site.

Banyan Tree Singapore

Enjoy a relaxing massage at the Banyan Tree Singapore: the first Banyan Tree Spa in Singapore.

Banyan Tree Spa Singapore

Banyan Tree Spa Singapore operates over 60 spa resorts worldwide but will open its first Singaporean resort on the 55th floor of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel.

The 20,000-square-foot spa and health club will offer 15 spa treatment rooms, each with its own nature theme. The Health Club will offer a gym and cardio corner, Pilates, yoga and a juice spa. Include to that an amazing sky view over Singapore, and you understand that Banyan Tree again delivers what is it famous for.

Completion of the Banyan Tree Spa Singapore is scheduled for the health club in mid 2010, and the spa shortly after. To be on the safe side, I would make a booking from September onwards.

Eco Bikini

Another eco bikini from Aaron Chang who designs woman's swimwear made from recycled plastic bottles: a much more eco friendly and eye candy idea than just seeing plastic bottles floating in the sea or littering the beach :-)

This eco friendly bathing suit features a reversible black and ocean-blue print, the latter will make you blend in your environment when snorkeling close by little fishes. The bikini comes with a slider halter top and string-tie bottoms.

Eco Bikini

Aaron Chang's eco bikinis surely are more comfortable than the Hawaiian coconut bikinis, not to mention that these Hawaiian bikinis don't come with a coconut bottom: to every girl's delight I might say :-)

Chicken Reef

Why did the chicken cross the Great Barrier Reef?

Seriously: why did the 189-meter Chinese bulk carrier MV Mimosa cross
the Great Barrier Marine National Park (Green) Zone near Cowboys Reef, Chicken Reef and Lynch's Reef? (See Great Keppel Island Australia)

Ships over 50 meter are not allowed to enter protected areas on the Reef under the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Act 1975. So why does a 189 meter vessel ignores these rules?

And why is the fine only $70.000 for each of the 3 crew members when they were destroying an ecosystem that is as important for the sea as fresh air is for you and me?

I remember many years ago during my last Great Barrier Reef vacation diving in Chicken Reef: I especially remember the humongous clams, some are almost as big as me. But it's not about 1 clam...

Snorkeling Great Barrier Reef

It's about huge coral trees that you can't see when sailing or snorkeling over the Great Barrier Reef. But just imagine what happens when a to big illegal vessel hits this coral tree? Exactly: it will be completely destroyed, taking with it all the diversity of marine life that was surrounding it.

It's like cutting the rain forest: in the last 10 years the temperature in my apartment in Malaysia has gone up by 4 degrees... It's not about one clam, it's not about 1 tree... but there is only 1 earth and it's changing for the worst in less than 10 years. The poor condition of the Malaysian coral reefs are really heartbreaking: lots of them just look like a gray coral graveyard.

Scuba diving Great Barrier Reef

Can fines of $70.000 really protect future scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef? The only way to protect our planet and enjoy its most beautiful reefs, beaches and other travel destinations is by changing our lifestyle to be more sustainable and less invasive.

Why can you get the death penalty for killing members of your community, but only pay $70.000 for killing members of the Great Barrier Reef?

Great Keppel Island Australia

Imagine this could be the last time you see this kind of sea turtles passing by the coral reef around the Great Keppel Island of Australia?

Great Keppel Island is just a water taxi away from surrounding beaches and National Park Islands. And it's exactly there that a Chinese vessel hit the Great Barrier Reef in the beginning of the month. As for today, the vessel has been refloated leaving an obvious grounding scar on the reef.

North West Island Australia

More damage ahead caused by the Chinese vessel as oil washed up on the beautiful beach of the North West Island. This island is a breeding ground of many (funny looking) birds and sea turtles. Needless to say if oil is found on the beach, more oil is floating above the reef damaging it even further.

Some might argue: luckily the Chinese vessel was carrying coal and not oil... The sad news however is that every snorkler and diver knows: you cannot come to close with your boat to the reef to prevent its destruction. The area where the Chinese vessel hit the coral reef was strictly forbidden for sea vessels, so this disaster is again due to people taking a short cut to feed their greed.

If people only think about short term gain, then we advice you to visit Australian's Gold Coast as soon as possible. Although the water is colder than in Malaysian or Maldivian diving waters and the reef is a bit off coast: I just found that snorkeling with and touching the sea turtle is an unforgettable and priceless experience.

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of St Augustine, Ponte Vedra & The Beaches, Florida. All opinions are 100% mine.

St Augustine

For your next Florida holiday or romantic getaway, go to St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra and the Beaches for a memorable vacation that you will absolutely love.

We took a trip there last year and we absolutely adore the place as first there was so much to see and do, and there was something for everyone in our family. So everyone had a ball there and it was absolutely one of the best vacation we ever had in our lives!

Historic district St Augustine

I enjoyed the most taking a leisurely walk through the historic district visiting old churches, antique shops and museums to learn about the history of the first permanent European settlers. We essentially spent 3 days taking in the historic centre, and another 2 days on the beach during our last trip.

St Augustine, Ponte Vedra and the Beaches will charm you like no other with its delightful beaches, historic old city and finest restaurants. This is also a place for a romantic getaway with its charming clobbered streets and pretty boutique hotels.

For our next trip back we would like to stay in Hilton St Augustine Historic Bayfront boutique hotel which is ideally located near to the area's finest restaurants and with easy access to the historical points of interest. It has all the modern amenities that include pool, hot tub, business center and valet services. Most of the hotel rooms have a spectacular view of the Mantanzas Bay or the historic district.

If you are planning a trip to St Augustine, Ponte Vedra and the Beaches, go online to http://www.romanceliveshere.com where you will be able check on the special offers, attractions and plan your itinerary online. With all available resources and information on the website, you can easily plan your own customized trip in no time at all!

Bamboo bikini

Imagine looking as sexy as a Brazilian wearing a bamboo bikini? That's exactly what this eco friendly bikini has to offer:

  • a handmade crochet style top made in Thailand and

  • a sexy Brazilian cut bottom with a partly revealing skirt flare.

This bikini is made from bamboo, soy and organic cotton. To reduce the carbon footprint even more, I would have preferred that the bikini top was made in the US as well in stead of having to ship it all the way from Thailand.

If you really want to contribute to nature and help preserve the natural beauty that makes a tropical beach holiday so special, consider buying eco bikinis and eco monokinis at nikster.com, as they donate 5% of their sales to help endangered sea turtles.

Of course you can also buy eco friendly swimwear and our 2010 featured Becca bathing suits and spend more money on eco friendly tourism.

Plus size swim suits

Where to find plus size swim suits that suit your D + size? Miracle suit swimwear is one solution but look what I found today: a site entirely devoted to girls with a D+ bust : differentforgirls.co.uk.

Not that I am in need of such a swimsuit, but my friend has. She recently had a breast enhancement which makes her look even more gorgeous in dresses and evening wear, but unlike before, shopping for sexy, comfortable and "not over the top" bathing suits is becoming a challenge. And poor her, she loves to strut her stuff near the beach and the pool.

Just a warning for all my readers: unlike me who loves one piece bathing suits and reduces my time under the direct sun as much as possible, my friend loves to get a tan. Nothing is worse for your skin than exposing it to the tropical sun the whole day. Although I am a bit jealous that I am not naturally gifted with a D+ bust (a C would do as well :-) ), my friend cannot but admit that her skin is nowhere near looking as healthy as mine.

Beauty comes with a huge price tag and one seems to forget that beauty is in the eye of the beholder :-).

Miracle Suit Swimwear

Browsing through the Amazon shop, I found 50% off on Miracle Suit swimwear. First I had hoped it would be a swimsuit that would make me swim faster, or be warmer in the not so warm waters of the Great Barrier Reef.

But the magic of these bathing suits lies in the material called Miratex® which provides 3 times the support of normal lycra swimwear. In other words: it makes you look 10 pounds lighter in 10 seconds (or 5 if you are fast in putting on clothes :-) )

It has been featured in Oprah's O magazine, meaning it is for those who don't have a solution to weight loss or for anybody else that wants to look even better than they are. Actually ii's a kind of a corset with all the comfort and qualities of a bathing suit.

Miracle Swimsuit

Miracle Swimsuit offers a huge selection of one piece bathing suits and tankinis is available, and of course lots of choice in plus sized swimwear. Best of all, these swimsuits don't only make you look slimmer, they are very modern and sexy as well. Start eating some chocolates and go shopping I would say :-)
